TrACE
TrACE (the Transcribed Audio Collection Explorer) is a custom-built, browser-based interface, designed to facilitate engagement and interaction with collections of audio recordings and transcripts. The TrACE system allows users to explore time-aligned interview transcripts while listening to the audio.
In a split-screen view, using familiar audio-player functionality, TrACE provides the added benefit of allowing users to search within transcripts for names, places, or specific words, and jump directly to that moment in the interview. Users can also search the collection of recordings for specific speakers, or filter by speaker gender, age group, or any other programmed information.
The TrACE interface can be adapted for use by any collection of recordings with transcripts or timed summaries aligned with the audio. The TrACE system and its associated audio and transcript files can be hosted on a local server. Built with HTML and JavaScript, the code for the template is available here: http://github.com/Language-Research-Technology/TrACE
